Autism is believed to suffer from 1 in 68 children with varying levels of conditions. Only a few drugs are currently approved for the treatment of autism, including Risperidone and Aripiprazole. Both are anti-psychotic drugs which are basically just sedatives. Parents face a big risk by giving their children pharmaceutical products like antipsychotic drugs, even though the product seems to work.
Treatment with sedatives like this also requires a high cost and causes dangerous side effects that can actually make some symptoms of autism worse. Even in some cases, these drugs refer to the cause of weight gain, diabetes to heart disease. Anti-psychotic drugs can also cause extreme lethargy and sedation.
2016 is an important year in the history of Medical Marijuana research. In September, Israel became the first country in the world to be given permission to treat autistic children in a clinical trial with marijuana in a doctor’s approved monitoring program.
